A news helicopter flying for NBC Los Angeles crashed shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the 9100 block of Mason Avenue near Nordhoff Street. It came down between commercial buildings in an industrial area and storage complex, landing on shipping containers and parked vehicles.

The crew of NewsChopper4 was overhead covering a fatal Metro bus collision a few blocks away. Pilot George Marciniw and reporter Eliana Moreno were killed. The Los Angeles County medical examiner identified the man killed on the ground as Edy Gutierrez Mejia, 29.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.

LAPD had taped off the area, and Los Angeles Fire Department crews were still at the scene when this footage was filmed early Wednesday, about seven hours after the crash. NTSB investigators arrived later.

Conner filmed this footage on scene, with LAPD and LAFD present.
